Duties include:
- Preside at all meetings of the Delegate Assembly, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee in the absence of the President. He/she shall assist the President at the latter’s request.
- Assume the duties of the President in case of the death, resignation or retirement of the President or in the event the President is unable to perform the duties of that office. The Vice President shall perform such duties and bear such responsibilities until the next regularly scheduled election.
- Chair the Strategic Action Committee and the Strategic Action Steering Committee.
- Perform all duties normally associated with this office.
Compensation:
A full-time member (faculty or professional staff) will receive $18,866 plus 2 courses per semester (or 2 days per semester for Professional Staff) of release from their regular workload in order to conduct the work of the Union. The full-time member continues to receive his/her full salary and benefits. It is expected that the full-time elected officer will NOT pick up extra courses under the DCE contract. The cost of the reassigned time to the MCCC (3 credit course at Step 2) is $13,692. A part-time/adjunct faculty member (not eligible to receive reassigned time) will receive the full yearly compensation of $32,558.
Note: As of right now, the Position of SAC Chair also gets 2 courses of reassigned time.. However, there has been a recent recommendation that the SAC be separated from the VP position. Therefore, this is under review by the Finance Committee and may change.
